What we do
One referral. Seven ways we can help.
Every service starts in your home, with your goals. From quick safety checks to major bathroom redesigns, you deal with one therapist who knows your name, your hallway and your kettle.
-
Functional Capacity Assessments
Thorough, plain-English FCA reports for NDIS plan reviews, Support at Home classifications and insurers — recommendations your funding body can act on.
-
Home Modifications
Minor to major: grab rails, ramps and lever taps through to level-access showers and full bathroom redesigns — assessed, specified and project-managed with local builders.
-
Assistive Technology
Minor to complex AT: walking aids, seating, hoists, scooters and pressure care. We arrange trials, quotes and all funding paperwork — no catalogues dumped in your lap.
-
Falls Assessments
Evidence-based falls-risk screening of you and your environment — balance, strength, vision, footwear and hazards — with a practical plan to keep you steady.
-
Home Assessments
A room-by-room safety and accessibility review of the whole property, delivered as a prioritised, budget-conscious action list — what to fix first, and what can wait.
-
Pressure Injury Management
Risk assessment, pressure-care equipment prescription, positioning programs and carer education to prevent skin breakdown — and manage it expertly when it occurs.
-
Capacity Building
Goal-directed therapy programs that rebuild skills and confidence for daily life — cooking, showering, getting out in the community — measured against what matters to you.
-
From grab rail to full redesign
Home modifications are our signature work. We assess, draw the specification, source competitive quotes from trusted local trades, and sign off the finished job against the plan — so nothing is lost between the tape measure and the tiler.

Who we support
Your funding, sorted.
Three pathways, one phone call. Pick the tab that sounds like you — and if you're not sure, that's normal. We'll work it out together.
Staying home, with the right help
Under the Support at Home program, occupational therapy is classified as clinical care — fully government-funded when it's part of your approved care plan, with no out-of-pocket contribution for the therapy itself.
We work directly with your Support at Home provider and care partner, and our assessment reports can help your assessor see the full picture when your classification is being set or reviewed.
- No gap fee on clinically approved OT under Support at Home
- Reports that support assessments, reviews and reclassification
- Assistive Technology & Home Modifications (AT-HM) pathway applications
- Restorative Care Pathway programs after illness, falls or surgery
- Direct billing to your provider — no invoice wrangling for families
OT that fits your plan, not the other way round
We support self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants of all ages. Because we are not an NDIA-registered provider, we don't see agency-managed participants — which keeps us small, fast and focused on you.
Invoices go straight to your plan manager (or to you, if self-managed), with service agreements written in plain English before any work begins.
- Functional Capacity Assessments for plan reviews and reassessments
- Assistive technology: trials, quotes, reports and funding submissions
- Home modification assessments, from minor works to complex projects
- Capacity-building programs under your Improved Daily Living budget
- Reports written to NDIA language and evidence standards
No funding? No drama.
You don't need a package or a plan to see us. Private clients book directly — often while waiting for an aged care assessment — and receive a written quote before anything starts. No surprises, ever.
We also work with DVA card holders, motor accident and workers' compensation insurers, and Medicare chronic condition management referrals from your GP.
- Upfront quotes — approved by you before we begin
- Private health rebates where your extras cover includes OT
- DVA, RTWSA, CTP and lifetime support schemes
- GP care plan referrals (Medicare-subsidised sessions)
- Pre-assessment reports that strengthen aged care applications

Equipment trials, builder coordination, supplier follow-ups and funding claims — then a review to check the changes actually changed things.
About the practice
Local hands. Regional knowledge. Real follow-through.
Matt founded Coastwise Occupational Therapy on a simple observation: the people who most need OT are often the least able to travel for it. So we flipped the model — the clinic comes to the kitchen table.
We live here. We know which builders answer their phones, which suppliers deliver past Naracoorte, and how long the drive is from Beachport to Bordertown. That local knowledge turns reports into results.
- Registered & insured AHPRA-registered occupational therapist with full professional indemnity and public liability cover.
- Regional specialists Deep experience across aged care, disability and rural home modification projects.
- Plain English, always Reports your family can read, and your funding body can approve.

Questions
Asked often, answered plainly.
Something else on your mind? Send it through
No. You can refer yourself, a parent, a partner or a client — no GP letter required. That said, we welcome referrals from GPs, support coordinators, discharge planners and aged care providers, and we're happy to keep them in the loop.
We're not NDIA-registered, which means we work with self-managed and plan-managed participants rather than agency-managed plans. For you, that means shorter waits, direct communication with your therapist, and invoices that go straight to your plan manager. Not sure how your plan is managed? Call us — we'll help you check in two minutes.
Yes. Occupational therapy sits in the clinical supports category, which the government funds in full when it's included in your approved care plan — there's no participant contribution on clinical care. Equipment and home modifications are funded separately through the AT-HM pathway, and we prepare the assessments and quotes those applications need.
Face-to-face visits cover the whole Limestone Coast — Mount Gambier, Naracoorte, Millicent, Penola, Robe, Kingston SE, Bordertown, Keith and everywhere in between, with standard travel included inside the region. Telehealth sessions are available Australia-wide for assessments, reviews, carer training and equipment follow-ups.
It depends on your funding pathway — many clients pay nothing out of pocket. Whatever your situation, you'll receive a written quote before any work begins, approved by you first. We follow current NDIS pricing arrangements for plan-managed and self-managed participants.
Standard reports are delivered within seven business days of your assessment; complex home modification specifications and FCA reports can take up to ten. If you're working to a funding deadline — a plan review date or a hospital discharge — tell us at booking and we'll prioritise accordingly.
